Key Features of Riders Republic

64-Player Mass Races — Every few weeks, over 60 riders simultaneously descend the same course on mixed equipment; outcomes are lawfully unpredictable and deliberately absurd.

Six Discipline Rotation — Bike, ski, snowboard, wingsuit, rocket wingsuit, and skateboard each have dedicated trick systems, gear trees, and standalone career tracks.

Season 18 Pockett Bike X — The Season 18 flagship vehicle; unlocked by reaching 1,300 season stars, rewarding consistent play over a full seasonal grind.

LAB Event Creator — A community tool that lets players design, publish, and share custom race events with thumbnail requirements added in Season 18 for curation quality.

Ubisoft+ Access — Available on Ubisoft+ subscription, making it accessible to Indian players on PC without a full individual purchase.

WHAT IS RIDERS REPUBLIC?

Riders Republic is Ubisoft Annecy’s open-world extreme sports playground, released October 28, 2021, and continuously updated through a live seasonal model that reached Season 18 in March 2026. You play as a customizable rider competing across biking, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuits, rocket wingsuits, and skateboarding — all in a single stitched-together world built from iconic American national parks. It’s made for the player who wants spectacle over simulation. If you want realistic physics, disciplined skill ceilings, or a focused single-sport game, Riders Republic will feel too broad and too arcade-adjacent.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The game’s first hour is a deliberate sensory overload. You’re dropped into Riders Ridge and immediately handed access to every discipline without a gating system — you can wingsuit off a cliff, swap to a mountain bike mid-event, and land into a Mass Race invitation within twenty minutes. The tutorial is woven into early career events rather than presented as a formal lesson, which means the Trickster control scheme’s trigger-pressure nuances go largely unexplained until you’ve already failed a tricks event several times. The “hook” moment arrives the first time you stumble into a Mass Race and see 60 other riders pouring down the same mountain in real-time — nothing in the game’s trailer fully prepares you for how delightfully absurd it is in practice.

GAMEPLAY & MECHANICS

The core loop cycles between career progression across six disciplines, seasonal star accumulation, and multiplayer events. Each discipline runs on its own control logic: skateboarding uses trigger pressure for flip speed (full press for fast board flips, light press for slow stylish rotations), skiing uses grab combinations mapped to the right stick and triggers, and wingsuits reward reading momentum and altitude over button timing. The Season 18 skateboarding update sharpened these controls further, giving players more granular rotation speed control to stylize combos. The Pockett Bike X — Season 18’s marquee vehicle — unlocks at 1,300 season stars and rewards its compact, agile handling with creative freedom on descents that larger bikes can’t navigate. The progression model was also reworked in Season 18 to accelerate early tier unlocks while making later tiers more challenging, directly addressing longtime community feedback about mid-season stagnation.

STORY & WORLD

Riders Republic doesn’t pretend to have a story. The “career” is a social media follower grind framed through a fictionalized extreme sports influencer culture — you post event highlights, gain followers, and unlock bigger tournaments. It’s a delivery mechanism for progression, not a narrative. What it does have is a world with genuine personality: the mash-up of Bryce Canyon’s spires, Yosemite’s valley, Mammoth Mountain’s slopes, and Sequoia’s forests creates an environment that feels curated and cohesive despite being geographically impossible. Season 18 added Rabbid Hunter, a chaotic crossover event at Camp Curry that brings the Rabbids IP into the world — it’s silly, self-aware, and tonally consistent with the game’s general attitude toward seriousness.

VISUALS, AUDIO & PERFORMANCE

Riders Republic is one of the best-looking open-world sports games on the market in 2026. High-altitude snow sparkles with a Season 18 visual polish update, and the draw distance across the national park mash-up holds up on PS5 and PC at high settings. Frame rate is stable in most contexts; the stress point is 64-player Mass Races, where server-side processing introduces rubber-banding on weaker connections — a documented issue that affects Indian players running on EU or NA servers due to the absence of an Asia-Pacific server region. The audio design earns its score: the licensed music spans hip-hop, electronic, and indie rock in ways that actually fit the activity, and the spatial audio during wingsuit sections is the game’s most technically impressive achievement.

MONETISATION & VALUE

Riders Republic is a premium purchase with optional cosmetic spending — there is no pay-to-win mechanic, no energy system, and no locked discipline behind a paywall. The in-game RC currency purchases cosmetic gear and bikes; competitive performance is determined entirely by player skill and gear stats earned through play. The Season 18 in-game store received a “Toys & Careers” redesign with a try-before-you-buy feature — you can now test vehicles for free before spending RC. At its regular Steam India sale price of ₹199–₹499 for the Standard Edition, this is one of the highest value-per-hour purchases in the genre. The Complete Edition on Ubisoft’s own store has dropped as low as $14.99 USD, making it even more accessible globally.

ACCESSIBILITY

Two control schemes — Racer and Trickster — are available at launch and adjust how tricks are mapped across the pad, making the game accessible to players who prefer button combos over analog stick manipulation. Zen Mode removes competitive scoring and lets you explore the world without performance pressure, which is a thoughtful inclusion. The game does not offer colourblind modes, comprehensive subtitle options, or remappable controls on console — meaningful gaps for a major Ubisoft release in 2026. Difficulty scaling in career events is automated through AI, but there’s no manual difficulty selector.

MULTIPLAYER & COMMUNITY

Mass Races run on a fixed weekly schedule — in Season 18, they fall on April 1, April 22, May 13, and June 3, with a Victory Yama outfit as the competitive reward. The community around LAB event creation is active, and Season 18’s thumbnail requirement for event publishing has improved the browsability of the content browser meaningfully. For Indian players specifically: server ping in Riders Republic is managed through worldwide matchmaking rather than regional servers, and a 2023 Reddit thread from an Indian buyer confirmed that ping doesn’t crash the game but does skew timed Mass Race leaderboards in unpredictable directions. The practical fix is to play during EU peak hours (4–9 PM IST) when more riders are online and matchmaking pools are larger, reducing the impact of server distance on event outcomes.

HOW IT COMPARES

Against Steep, Riders Republic wins clearly on content breadth and multiplayer scale — Steep’s quieter, more atmospheric mountain experience doesn’t come close to matching the 64-player chaos of a Mass Race or the six-discipline career depth; however, Steep’s more deliberate pacing and realistic mountain feel appeals to players who find Riders Republic’s sensory maximalism exhausting.

Against Forza Horizon 5, Riders Republic wins on discipline variety and the raw novelty of mixing wingsuits with mountain bikes in the same session, but Forza Horizon 5 is a superior open-world product across almost every production dimension — its progression systems, licensed car roster, seasonal content depth, and server infrastructure are all more polished than what Riders Republic offers.
